I have several of these headbands and love to wear these when running or during yoga class. I tend to like the plain colored ones though they have quite a variety of different patterns, too. How many do you have?
Here are some photos from Saturday, the day of the Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon.
I was quite tired from lining up for the exclusive store the night before so I really wanted to get as much rest before the race. I don’t live too far from the start line so I hopped on the bus. There were two other runners on the bus at that time. I wasn’t sure what the weather would be like so I had a few outfits in mind. It was supposed to rain but I hoped that it wouldn’t be too bad.
When I put on the weather forecast, it said that it wasn’t that warm but it probably wouldn’t rain. I was glad so I didn’t bother with rain gear. I had bought a nice jacket at the Seawheeze store and I was tempted to wear it.
I got to the convention center and there was lots of runners inside, doing the usual, dropping off their bags at gear check, stretching, eating, going to the bathroom and heading outside. I stayed inside until the last minute because I wanted to keep warm.
Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon Race Day Review 2015
Bike Course Marshalls
I spotted a friend, Josh who was volunteering as a bike course marshall!
I was also impressed with runners who had cycled here and then left their bikes with The Bicycle Valet! Talk about lots of energy!
Startline
Self Seeded Corrals
I couldn’t remember what corral I had signed up with and I couldn’t find any of my friends. Nor could I find my friend who was a pace beaver! I just went in one and stuck to it.
The race start was 7 AM!
Starting in East Vancouver
Our first cheer group was the Ride Cycle Club who were riding on the viaduct! They were really going at it and cheering us on as we ran by!
Short Time in Chinatown
View of False Creek and Science World
BC Place
Not sure what these bubbles were supposed to be!
Dress Alike Runners
Don’t you love it when you see runners who dress alike?
First Water Station
I love the voluncheer t-shirts this year, pink and grey! I got one for volunteering for set up.
Cheerers on Stilts
Pace Car
I’m not sure how I got to see the Tesla pace car. It should have been waaay ahead of me!
Cheer Groups
West End Drag Queens
On an overcast race day, it was so nice to see these brightly dressed drag queens in Vancouver’s West End!
November Project Cheer Group
This was my favorite cheer group because I know most of them from twitter, the November Project Vancouver group!
Burrard Street Bridge
I was so amazed by Dr. Dribble, the world’s fastest running basketball dribbler!
I spotted a really fast devil, too!
Here was a runner dressed in an animal suit!
Lululemon Headquarters Cheer Group
The biggest cheers came close to the Lululemon headquarters at the end of Burrard Street Bridge!
More Volunteers
Spotted some more of my friends volunteering!
Ivivva Girls Cheer Group
They are always so happy and enthusiastic! The Vancouver Ivivva store is just a few blocks up from the race route.
Bridal Party Runners
Saw some just marrieds, bride, maid of honour but no engagement this year. I know that there was an engagement at the finish line last year.
Wizard of Oz
Some more Furry Cheerers
Nice Signs!
Here we are running along the seawall. There is a large Inukshuk and a RUN beside it. Some people were taking selfies.
Here are some more volunteers/cheerers!
Cool to see these paddle boarders!
Musical Band out on the Water!
Not sure what these were! But there were lots of them on the race course and even at the Sunset Festival later on!
Here’s another music band!
Here’s one of my fave spots on the seawall, Siwash Rock.
It’s pretty narrow around this area but this girl was giving us all high fives!
I also like this lighthouse!
Here were the Scientists group cheerers! There were lots of them! I hadn’t read the information that came with our shorts so I had no idea why there were so many scientists!
The return of the beautiful Mermaids!
The Ivivva Girls Again! They were even more enthusiastic as we ran by!
Approaching the Finish Line
So happy to reach the last stretch!
Our names were announced as we crossed the finish line!
Volunteers with our medals! A sight for sore eyes! Or sore legs!
The medal this year was a heavy gold colored carrot with a bite out of it. It had a plain black string. Seriously, I only had it on for a few minutes before I had to take it off because my neck hurt from the weight of it!
We also got a nice runner’s kit from Saje! It has two small vials of recovery products. I will definitely go to the store here to buy another one!
I like the black runner’s cap, too! I like it better than last year’s cap!
We also got a KIND bar!
After the race we were pretty chilly because of the wind.
Ran into another friend who was volunteering! I felt so badly for her because it was so cold and windy! At least we runners warmed up while we ran!
Delicious Runner’s Brunch from Bearfoot Bistro!
Post Race Massage
Saje hosted the post race massage! While in line, they were letting us try the race recovery products!
I sat down and stretched and ate my brunch.
As I was leaving I spotted some more finishers! The announcers were great! One of them, Matt, is a great runner and yoga instructor!
One last shot…doggy friend in shades beside the pace car!
I had a really fun race! I managed to do okay despite taking over 250 photos during the race! Although I was familiar with the course since I live here, I was still blown away seeing it during this race. I loved seeing all the entertainment along the race, too! I felt so energized by the race, I ran home! Thanks so much to Lululemon, all the staff, volunteers, cheerers and runners!
This was a special Friday nooner yoga class for the Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon!
There were hundreds of yogis today, more than the usual Wednesday nooner yoga classes.
Today’s instructor, Erin Anderson who also did a summer nooner class last year was introduced to the class!
Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon 2015 Free Nooner Yoga Class Vancouver Erin Anderson
Erin’s a well known yoga instructor here.
Erin starts off the class with a hug!
Here are some photos of the class. You can see the olympic flame cauldron in the back of some of the photos. You can also see the water and mountain view in back.
Here’s some kids doing yoga, too.
Here’s one of Erin’s assistants, Anthony.
These runner yogis were amazing-most at an advanced or expert level. You can also see some of the runners wearing the new special edition Seawheeze clothing!
This was really great! I’m sure the runners appreciate getting as much stretching in before the race, too! Thanks very much to Lululemon for offering this special summer nooner class for the Seawheeze Half Marathon runners!
Here are some photos of the Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon Showcase Store this year. This year, they opened the store for the runners from 7 AM to 9:30 AM (exclusive runner shop) and then they allowed the general public in.
I think the store was the same size that it was last year.
I got to see the store the day before and it had a pretty good inventory. I was really looking forward to getting some pieces! I already had a mental picture of where I had to go first to grab them!
I decided to head down at midnight. I really thought that I would be one of the first people in line but that was definitely not the case! I was around number 115 at midnight! I heard that people started lining up at the showcase store at 7 PM the previous night! The store wasn’t going to open until 7 AM. By the time it opened, there were so many people in line and it wrapped around the huge convention center!
Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon Showcase Store 2015
There were definitely determined and practical shoppers who brought chairs, blankets, pillow, an air mattress, a tent and sleeping bags. I brought a collapsible chair with a foot rest, knowing that I’d be sleeping.
Some of the shoppers in line were really excited. One girl brought balloons and played a game where each person had a balloon attached and they’d crash against each other until the balloons broke. Unfortunately, when the balloons burst, they were really noisy and even sounded like gunfire! The girl obviously didn’t realize that there are lots of high-rise condos that didn’t appreciate the raucous Lululemon revelers in the middle of the night.
People lined up soon after me.
Eventually, we were let in the convention center to another lines up. At least it was warmer inside and we were excited about the thought of going inside soon. I was so cold waiting those seven hours! We were treated to acro yoga again this year while we waited in line. This pair is incredible! Finally, at 7 AM, they let us, the first group in. We had been waiting anywhere from twelve hours to five hours. I had waited seven hours. I ran in straight for the bag that I wanted! Everybody else started grabbing things. The set up was very similar to previous years. I quickly accumulated 15 items but held on to them for dear life. People were eyeing others’ piles for the right size or item! Many people asked me if I was going to keep all of my things! I took pictures of most everything. Since I was the first group in, I think I got most of it with the exception of a few. However, it was quite dark in there and I didn’t want to use a flash and bother people. So here is what I found and apologies to the picture quality, but you get the idea. This pink bag was very popular! The grey one was not as popular. This bug pattern was very popular! I love it! There was not much at all in the mens section. I felt so sorry for the guys, some of them were really disappointed.
Even though I was in the first wave of shoppers, empty racks were not replenished while I was there.
Time to check out! I didn’t have to wait at all for a cashier! People were still lining up even an hour after I had left the shop! I’m sure that I’ll see a lot of the Seawheeze special edition items at the race tomorrow! Check out the photos of the runners online on social media and you’ll be able to see them, too!
Today was the set up day for the 2015 Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon!
I volunteered with the set up group. We first picked up any trash so that they could lay down the turf. There wasn’t much so it didn’t take us long.
Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon 2015 Set Up
We had a great group of volunteers working! Most were runners who will be running this Saturday! Almost all were from out of town: Michigan, Chicago, San Francisco, Salmon Arm. There were only two of us from Vancouver. They didn’t have our shirts unpacked yet.
Here’s one of the assembly groups. I did this last year and wasn’t good at it!
These are just of a few of the 10,016s of bags that we assembled for the runners! I loved this bag a lot more than last year’s! And there are three different water bottle sayings so I hope that I get the one that I like best!
We were working right by the bay windows and it was so hot!
Here’s Josh from last year! Had a great time with these guys! Good luck with the race! (The volunteer voluncheer shirts, mens are grey, womens are pink). The fabric is so soft!
We got to preview the store. It looked just as big as last year. We were warned not to take any photos of any of the limited edition items and put them on social media before the grand unveiling tomorrow at 7 AM. I’m really happy that the runners will get to shop at 7 AM to 9:30 AM before the general public is let in. (Package pick up can wait! lol)Â Last year, people started to line up at 3AM and I expect people will do the same this year. I will be lining up earlier because I really don’t want to miss out on the things I’ve picked out!
I did see a few things that I will buy, I especially loved one bag, some shorts and some tops and bras! I know that the others who got to see the store were also impressed and will go early to shop! As usual, I’m sure that these limited edition items will sell out quickly!
