Grand Opening of Vancouver Lululemon New Flagship Store Burrard at Robson Street

Thursday was the official grand opening of Lululemon’s new flagship store in Vancouver, on Burrard Street at Robson Street!

The store was open on Tuesday for the media and Wednesday as a soft opening.

I received an email saying that the first 100 people in line would get a special limited edition item!

I heard that the earliest people got there at 7 AM. I didn’t get there until around 9:15 and I was number 72. By the time the store had opened at 10, all of the numbers were gone.

Here’s a view of the line up.

The first 100 people went straight for the limited edition shirts that we would get! There were womens racerback tank tops and mens 5 year t-shirts with a bicycle theme.

This is one of the three that I bought. I liked it because of the red bottles of wine in the basket. Then, I also saw that it had a tiny sign showing my neighborhood, Kits, which is also where the first Lululemon store started.

Here are some views of the rest of the store.

This is really cool. These just look like photos of the bottoms. But if you watch them for a while, all of a sudden, the legs will move and you realize that they are videos of the pants!

This is the community board area. It also included some Seawheeze information as well.

Here are some photos of the exterior of the store. They were running a video of last year’s Seawheeze Half-Marathon!

This is the largest mens section I have ever seen in a Lululemon store.

Lululemon Cross Fit Westside Gym Ad in Robson Street Online Newsletter

I saw this ad at the top of the weekly Lululemon online newsletter.

It was the photo that interested me the most.

‘for all your sweat-inducing pursuits…
the Ebb to Street tank has your back with its seamless, stay in place, second-skin feel. Put it to the test against Crossfit, a program focused on improving your muscular strength, cardio-respiratory endurance and flexibility. Try Crossfit Westside for a gym that puts proper movement first, and their mantra to blend a healthy lifestyle with community and approachability.’

The Crossfit Westside Gym is not too far from the Robson Street Lululemon.

As you can see, the cross fit model is definitely a strong, fit person. She looks like she could kick somebody’s a$# if she wanted to! She is modelling the Ebb to Street tank.

I have to admit that I was surprised to see her since most of the models that Lululemon uses are the very slim, size 2 or 4 types. This person in this ad does not look like she’d be that size. She definitely looks like she’d be in one of the larger sizes that Lululemon carries, which would mean a size 10 or 12?

I wondered if this means that Lululemon is sending the message that they are embracing the larger sized women wearing Lululemon? I wouldn’t say that this model is plus sized but she does have the look of a larger, might I even suggest, average size woman with hips?

What do you think? Does this model look larger than the usual Lululemon models you see on their website or in their newsletters?

Lululemon CEO Search Window Displays Pedro for CEO

As most people know, Lululemon’s CEO has stepped down and there is a search for a new CEO.

I was walking by the flagship store, West 4th Kitsilano Lululemon and saw their window displays proclaiming their job ad. I loved these windows!

It says, ‘and you thought see through pants were an issue…now accepting CEO applications’.

Here is another sign that says, CEO WANTED APPLY WITHIN.

Here is a button that’s hard to see with the window glare, but it says, PEDRO FOR CEO.

I happened to be walking past the downtown Robson Street Lululemon store and they also have their windows with the job sign. This one says, NOW HIRING CEO.

Here’s another sign on the other side of the window. The sign says, CEO WANTED APPLY WITHIN.

Here is a white tank top that says, PEDRO FOR CEO. I asked an educator why they said that. She told me that it was in reference to the movie, Napoleon Dynamite. I had never seen the movie so I didn’t clue in. She said that it was a joke in the movie.

Here is the white t-shirt version.

Here is the label. It says that it was Designed in Vancouver and Made in Peru. The educator said that these shirts have been in the store for three days. I was surprised to hear that since the resignation announcement was not that long ago.

Did they have these white shirts and then sent them somewhere to get silk screened? Did they get the signs made quickly? Or was the resignation anticipated and all of this stuff made in advance?

For anybody who’s interested, here is the Lululemon headquarters and the entrance to the parking lot! It is in beautiful Kitsilano and blocks from the famous Kitsilano beach! It is also blocks from the first Lululemon store that was opened by Chip Wilson.

Maybe you’ll get an executive parking spot! lol

In keeping with their fun job descriptions, some of the job requirements: it’s seeking a leader who can hold a headstand for at least 10 minutes, has Oprah and Chip Wilson on speed dial (among others), communicate in Sanskrit and down wheatgrass and tequila shots on Fridays for work-life balance.

I hear that they received over 160 applications already! I’m looking forward to finding out who will be the next CEO.

Added today:

I found this Workopolis job search site ad in the daily free paper today.

‘Looking for a company that isn’t afraid to be transparent?’ I’m sure that’s in reference to the recent sheer yoga pants incident.

You can also see a yoga mat, a CEO name plate and a pair of groove looking yoga pants.  Wonder who they’re making fun of?
